CREATING TECH PAYPLANS:

First, navigate to your pay plan list.

Next, click 'Add Item' at the top of the page.

Name your new pay plan, and select 'Tech Pay Plan' from the 'Plan Type' dropdown.

Tech commission options will appear on the right side of the screen. Use the green 'Add Item' button to enter tech commission details.

Note that for each commission type, you can specify a provider. If no provider is specified, then the commission details for that type apply to all providers, other than those that ARE specified. For example, in the picture above, techs on the payplan Tech Plan 3 will receive a commission of $85 for each 'First Receiver' they install for every provider except ADT. For ADT installations, they will receive a $100 commission for every 'First Receiver.'

OVERRIDES:

If automatic override calculation is turned OFF for your instance (meaning manual override calculation is turned ON), and you would like to specify overrides on you payplan, you can do it here as well. In the Tech Commission section, choose an override option from the dropdown and enter the appropriate number. This is what the LEAD tech of the tech on this pay plan will receive when the tech on this pay plan completes an install. You can of course specify Providers for overrides, as well.

NOTE: If you refrain from adding overrides to your pay plan, and automatic override calculation is turned off (manual on), then when a tech on this pay plan completes an install, no overrides will be calculated for the technician above them in the hierarchy.

NOTE: By setting a FLAT OVERRIDE, you are designating what the LEAD tech of the tech on this plan will receive when the tech on this pay plan completes an install, regardless of the number of receivers.

NOTE: You should only add overrides to tech commission manually in this way if automatic override calculation is turned off. If automatic override calculation is turned ON, FastGem will ignore the override amounts (even flat override amounts) manually entered in the Tech Commission section and instead calculate the difference between tech receiver commissions to find the override(s). When automatic override calculation is turned on, the Tech who completes the install (the Direct Tech) will receive whatever commission is configured for them (in their profile or in their payplan, if they're on one) for that package and number of receivers. Their Lead Tech's pay as configured for that package and number of receivers in this payplan, minus the Direct Tech's pay, will be the Lead Tech's actual override commission.

FLAT FEES:

At the bottom of the pay plan page, there will be a compensation section which includes the option to enter a 'Flat Tech Fee' for specific packages (ignore the comm low/comm med/comm high boxes; these are for reps and will not affect technician pay).

Whether or not automatic override calculation is turned on or off, flat fees trump commissions, and do away with overrides/downline overrides. For example, when a technician on the pay plan pictured below installs most packages other than ADT, they will receive $85 for the first receiver, and $30 for each additional receiver. Any techs over them will receive $20 for the first receiver and $5 for each additional receiver. However, when a tech on this plan installs the package 'alarm system,' they will receive a flat Tech fee of $75. Their lead tech, if they have one, will not receive any override commission whatsoever for that package.

ASSIGNING PLANS TO TECHS:

Plans can be assigned to multiple techs at once using the mass update feature at the top of the screen in the Rep/Tech Profiles list view. Simply use the check boxes to select the technicians you wish to assign a plan to, click the 'Mass Update' button at the top of your screen, select the Tech payplan you want from the Tech Plan dropdown, and click the green 'Mass Update' button:

You can also assign a plan to an individual tech by editing their profile and selecting a plan from the Tech Pay Plan dropdown:
